Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

HELSINKI - Ahlstrom-Munksjö has partnered with UK-based teabag producer Typhoo and food retail brand Co-op in a bid to introduce heat-sealed teabags that eliminate the use of plastics which contribute to the global plastic pollution epidemic. According to the UK Tea and Infusions Association, 165 million cups of tea are drunk every day in Britain alone, 96% of which use non-biodegradable plastics, integrated to maintain product shape.

This collaboration between the three manufacturers aims to produce and retail products that utilise PLA nonwovens, sealed in a fashion which eradicates any need to use plastics.
