Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

ROME - US-based carpeting specialist Foss Floors has ordered a new needlepunch line from nonwovens technology supplier Dilo.

Once installed, the new system will be the company's fourth complete line from Dilo allowing it to ramp up production of its renowned Di-Loop carpeting technology.

In recent years, Foss Floors, which is based in Rome, Georgia, says it has become a major player in Di-Loop carpeting which offers rib structured surfaces with extensive patterning possibilities.

"Mainly because of high quality requirements for the carpet product and a wide range of modern design patterns, needlefelt floor covering appeals greatly to architects and contractors for homes and commercial buildings," Dilo said in a statement. "The range of aesthetically unique patterns and colours impresses by its tastefulness and timeless designs. The aim of gaining highly efficient additional capacity corresponds to a high demand for this particular carpeting from Foss Floors."

DiloGroup designed this latest high-tech production system in collaboration with Foss, tailoring it for the carpeting firm's specific needs. The new line will offer Foss an increased production capacity at high fibre throughput rates comprising fully automatic fibre opening and blending from Dilo Temafa, carding from Dilo Spinnbau in a wide working width, high-speed crosslapping as well as pre- and finish- needling, designed for final product widths over 6m.

The specialist Di-Loop machine which offers high-speed production rates in a working width of 6.5 m will complete this production plant for the Di-Loop carpet sector.

The total plant is to be delivered, assembled and commissioned by DiloGroup as the general contractor.
