ECHTE-KALEFELD - Film manufacturer, the RKW Group, is investing a single-digit million sum on a new printing system at its site in Echte, Germany.
With the new machine, RKW says it is at the same time further expanding its production capacity in the field of industrial packaging and in this way securing jobs in the region. The new ten-color printing line is the latest of several investments at the Lower Saxony site, the most recent being a new five-layer extrusion line inaugurated in August 2021.
The site in Echte, Lower Saxony, with over 240 employees, is a key RKW site in the field of industrial packaging. Research, development and production of the so-called FFS and RKW ProVent sacks are located here. Other mainstays of production include valve sacks and trash sacks. The RKW ProVent sacks developed in Echte are used to package powdery goods such as cement or other building materials, foodstuffs such as sugar, spices or salt, and a wide variety of chemicals in quantities usually ranging from 15 to 25 kilograms.
"The demand for complex product images for sack packaging, especially for our premium product RKW ProVent, is constantly increasing. With the new printing line, we can serve this even better," says Andreas Gräwingholt, Director Site Echte.
When developing plastic sacks, RKW has the full product life cycle in mind. Accordingly, in addition to robustness and particularly high protection of the goods, the full recyclability of the films is also very important with this packaging. This is already ensured by the purity of the grades; the films produced in Echte consist exclusively of PE.
