Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

Auriga Polymers siteLeading petrochemical producer and PET manufacturer, Indorama Ventures is to add 15,000 tons of extrusion-based fibre spinning capacity to the Auriga Polymers manufacturing site in Spartanburg, Southern Carolina. The expansion will enable Auriga Polymers to produce PLA, as well as speciality polyester and post-consumer recycled polymers.

Tom Berkovsky, VP polymers and fibres, Auriga Polymers, said: “Indorama Ventures is constantly evolving its portfolio and technologies to help our customers grow. This added capacity increases Auriga’s position to support our customers who are seeing growing demand for speciality materials in all sectors of the nonwovens marketplace. Through the co-location of speciality PET polymers and staple fibre production at our Spartanburg site, we believe we are uniquely positioned to tailor our fibre portfolio to our customers’ requirements. Auriga’s staple fibres have been setting a high standard in the US marketplace for many years and we are very excited about the many possibilities we will be able to offer our customers in the future.”
